On this page you can configure the settings required for Internet connections using FRITZ!Box.

Attention: If you change the settings for Internet access, click the "Apply" button to implement them in the FRITZ!Box. Otherwise all changes will be discarded!

Connecting

In this area, select how the Internet connection will be established: directly via the DSL line or using an already existing Internet connection.

• Internet connection via DSL
  Select this type of connection if you connected FRITZ!Box to the DSL line using the DSL socket.
• Internet connection via LAN 1
  Select this type of connection if the FRITZ!Box is connected to an existing local network via the socket labeled "LAN 1".

Operating mode

In the "Operating Mode" area, select whether the Internet connection should be established by FRITZ!Box or by other devices.

The operating modes available for selection depend on the kind of connection you selected in the "Connection" area.

You selected the connection type Internet connection via DSL in the "Connection" area. In this case the following operating modes can be selected:

• Use one Internet connection for all computers (router)
  Select this operating mode if FRITZ!Box is to establish the Internet connection and make it available to all connected computers.
• Use FRITZ!Box as a DSL modem
  Select this mode of operation if the computers connected to the FRITZ!Box establish the Internet connections themselves, so that the FRITZ!Box is responsible only for forwarding data.

You selected the connection type via an existing network (LAN) in the "Connection" area. In this case the following operating modes can be selected:

• Establish own Internet connection (NAT router with PPPoE or IP)
  Select this operating mode if FRITZ!Box is to establish the Internet connection via a cable modem or a DSL router. The FRITZ!Box thus makes the Internet connection and its integrated firewall available to all connected network devices.
• Share existing Internet connection in the network (IP Client)
  Select this operating mode if you would like to integrate the FRITZ!Box in an existing network and the network is equipped with a router that establishes the Internet connection. Then the FRITZ!Box uses the existing network infrastructure for connected network devices and for Internet telephony. In this case the integrated firewall of the FRITZ!Box is not available.

Account Information and Connection Settings

In the "Account Information" area, specify whether or not you received account information from your Internet Service Provider and what kind of account information you have.

The configuration options available in the "Account Information" and "Connection Settings" areas depend on the settings you selected in the "Connection" and "Operating Mode" areas. For some combinations of connection and operating mode the "Account Information" area is not displayed at all, since no entries are required.

The following overview describes the options available in the "Account Information" area for each combination of connection and operating mode. Search for your combination of connection and operating mode in the overview and decide which selection you must make for the account information.

Operating mode:	Use Internet connection for all computers (router)
