Answering Machines

On these pages you can configure the FRITZ!Box's integrated answering machine. You can configure up to five answering machines with different settings.

Answering Machine
Assign a name for the answering machine here and specify which incoming calls the answering machine should react to. Save your settings by clicking "OK".

Properties
Switch the answering machine on or off here and define various settings.

  1. Enable Answering Machine
Enable this setting to switch on the answering machine. Disable this setting to switch off the answering machine.
    • Operating Mode
Specify whether callers are allowed to leave messages on the answering machine. When you select the "Greeting only" operating mode, callers will hear a recording, but cannot leave any message for you. When the "Record Messages" operating mode is selected, callers can leave a message after the recording.
    • Greeting delay
Set the delay after which the answering machine accepts incoming calls.
    • Recording length
Enter here the maximum recording length for messages from callers.
  2. Send messages via e-mail
The answering machine can automatically forward new messages by e-mail. If you would like to use this function, enable the setting "Send message via e-mail" and enter one or multiple e-mail addresses.
Place a comma between the e-mail addresses to separate them. Example: my.name@gmx.net, my.name@web.de
  3. Use USB mass storage device to increase recording capacity
The FRITZ!Box can save new messages to a USB storage device (stick, hard drive) connected to the FRITZ!Box. With a USB storage device the FRITZ!Box can record up to 254 messages from callers. If you would like to use this function, connect a USB storage device and enable the setting "Use USB mass storage device to increase recording capacity".
  4. Note:
The answering machine settings are also stored on the USB mass storage device. If you remove the USB mass storage device from the FRITZ!Box, neither the settings nor the recorded calls will be available.

If the USB remote connection for USB storage devices is enabled in the FRITZ!Box, no messages from callers can be saved on the USB storage device.

  5. Save your settings by clicking "OK".
