Remote Administration

Remote administration makes it possible to access your FRITZ!Box from a computer outside your own (LAN or WLAN) network. Now you or someone else, whom you notified of user name and password, can configure and operate the FRITZ!Box from afar.

Note: Think carefully who should know the user name and the password and whom you entrust with these information.

Preparing FRITZ!Box for Remote Access

  1. Check the option "Enable remote access".
  2. Define and enter a user name.
  3. Define and enter a password.
  4. Enter the password again in the field "Password confirmation".
  5. If you configured a port that deviates from the default HTTPS port (443), then enable the setting "Use HTTPS port other than the default HTTPS port 443)" and enter the port number in the "other HTTPS port".
  6. Click "Apply".
  7. Make a note of the IP address displayed. This address is required to establish a remote access connection.

IP address for remote access

As IP address for the remote access the current public IP address of FRITZ!Box is displayed. This IP address changes every time a connection into the Internet is established. The FRITZ!Box will be assigned a new public IP address at least every 24 hours (this is the period after that the Internet Service Provider clears the connection automatically).

If you enabled the service "Dynamic DNS" for your FRITZ!Box, the domain name of the FRITZ!Box will also be displayed. In this case you may access the FRITZ!Box either using the IP address or the domain name. The domain name is valid as long dynamic DNS is active.

Accessing the FRITZ!Box Using Remote Access

  1. Open a browser and enter the "IP address for remote access".
  2. Enter your user name and password. The FRITZ!Box user interface is opened in the browser.
