Connection Settings for FRITZ!Box as an IP Client in the Network

The following section describes the connection settings available when the following settings have already been configured for the Internet connection:

"Internet connection via LAN 1"
Number range Selected Setting
"Connection"
"Operating Mode"

Note: The integrated firewall of the FRITZ!Box is not available for this operating mode.

Configure the IP settings for the FRITZ!Box in the "Connection Settings" area.

Attention: After changes to these settings are applied, the FRITZ!Box user interface can be reached only via the configured IP address or the IP address assigned by the DHCP server.

Specify how the FRITZ!Box should receive its IP address:

  • Obtain the IP address automatically (DHCP)
Select this setting if the FRITZ!Box should obtain its IP address automatically from the DHCP server in the local network.
You can enter a name for the FRITZ!Box in the "DHCP host name" field. It only makes sense to enter a name here if the DHCP server has a device list in which the DHCP host names are listed.
  • Configure the IP address manually
Select this setting if FRITZ!Box should receive a fixed, static IP address, and enter all of the required IP information in the appropriate fields.

Enter the corresponding throughput rates of your DSL line in the "Upstream" and "Downstream" fields. This values are required in the FRITZ!Box in order to guarantee the best voice quality during Internet telephony. This information is supplied by your DSL provider.
