The child protection feature in the FRITZ!Box allows you to specify when and for how long individual computers or Windows users may use the Internet. For instance, you can define that your children are allowed to use the Internet connection only on weekdays between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and then only for one hour.

Note: The "Internet / Child Protection" menu is only available after you have entered your Internet account data in the "Internet / Account Information" menu and established a connection to the Internet.
The "Internet / Child Protection" menu is not available if you configured the FRITZ!Box as a DSL modem or as an IP client in the "Internet / Account Information" menu.

• Child Protection can be set up for all computers regardless of the operating system used.
• In the Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems, Child Protection can be configured for each user individually.

Enable Child Protection

Enable this setting to switch on the Child Protection function in the FRITZ!Box. As soon as this setting has been enabled, a table will be displayed on this page. The table shows the computers and users for which you can configure child protection.

Users and Computers	The "Users and Computers" column displays the computers by name and the users by the name of their user accounts. If the computer name is not known to FRITZ!Box, the IP address of the computer is displayed instead. The "SYSTEM" user is a special case. Internet use	The "Internet Use" column displays how long the user is allowed to use the Internet.
used today	This column shows the following: The displays shows how long the Internet has already been in use. The time listed here is always given with reference to the current date. The entry "Child Protection blocked" is displayed. In this case the FRITZ!Box determined an attempt to circumvent the configured child protection. The FRITZ!Box reacts by blocking the child protection or the computer. Click the button in the "edit" column to override the block. is enabled.
edit	Click this button to change the Child Protection settings.

Internet use is unrestricted for computers with Child Protection disabled.

When this setting is enabled, computers with child protection disabled can use the Internet without any time restrictions.

Internet use is blocked for computers with Child Protection disabled.

When this setting is enabled, computers with child protection disabled cannot use the Internet.

Note: If you want to ensure that the child protection settings cannot be changed by unauthorized users, protect the FRITZ!Box user interface with a password. Password protection for the FRITZ!Box can be configured using the "System / FRITZ!Box Password" menu command.
