FRITZ!Box Night Service

Using night service you can put the FRITZ!Box on standby automatically. During standby, the WLAN radio network of the FRITZ!Box is disconnected, and/or the connected telephones will not ring, for a period of time you specify. This has the following advantages:

  • Reduced power consumption: When you enable night service for WLAN, the WLAN module is switched off for the selected period and thus the energy consumption of the FRITZ!Box reduced.
  • Time-controlled Internet access With night service for WLAN you can also ensure that your children are only allowed to surf the web until a certain time of day.
  • A good night's sleep: When you enable night service for the connected telephones, they will not ring during the defined period. This keeps any late calls from disturbing your rest.

Enter in the "from" and "until" fields from when to when the night service is to be switched on.

Switch off wireless network (WLAN)

Select this setting if the radio network should be switched off during night service.
Turning off the radio network reduces FRITZ!Box's energy consumption.

The wireless network cannot be switched off until no more WLAN equipment is active.

Enable this option if the radio network should be switched off after the specified beginning of night service to keep from interrupting active connections between the WLAN devices and FRITZ!Box.
Remove the checkmark before this option if you would like the WLAN radio network to be switched off during night service no matter what connections are active. If WLAN connections are active at the beginning of night service, for instance, because your children are still surfing the web, or because a WDS has been configured, the FRITZ!Box will end these WLAN connections automatically.

Enabling WLAN During Night Service

To switch on the WLAN during night service, enter the keyboard shortcut #96*1* on a telephone connected to FRITZ!Box. To turn the WLAN off again by means of a keyboard shortcut, enter #96*0*.

WLAN Button

Alternatively, use the WLAN button on the FRITZ!Box to switch the WLAN on and off during night service.

Enable Do Not Disturb setting

Select this option to enable the Do Not Disturb setting during night service. The Do Not Disturb component of the night service features has the following effect on the telephony devices connected to the FRITZ!Box:

  • analog telephones will not ring
  • ISDN telephones will not ring
  • IP telephones ring: the Do Not Disturb setting does not apply to IP telephones.
  • a connected answering machine is not active
  • the integrated answering machines are active
  • a connected fax machine is not active
  • the integrated fax function is active

Separate Do Not Disturb settings can be configured for individual telephony devices. In this way different night service times can be defined for certain telephony devices, or certain devices can remain active (like answering machines).

The individual Do Not Disturb settings are configured in the "Advanced Settings / Telephony / Telephony Devices" menu:

  1. Select from the "Overview" menu the device in the list for which you would like to configure an individual Do Not Disturb setting, and then click the corresponding "Edit" button.
  2. Switch to the "Do Not Disturb" page to make the individual settings for the connected telephony device.

As a final step, click "Apply" to save the changed settings in the FRITZ!Box.
