Note: The "Voice Transmission" page is displayed only if you have enabled the display of expert settings in the "System / Expert Mode" menu.
This page presents detailed information about voice transmission during Internet telephony.
Detailed information about voice transmission during current Internet call
This table presents information about voice transmission in Internet calls currently being conducted.
Display table on completed Internet telephone calls and send it using push service
This table presents information about voice transmission in Internet calls that have already been concluded.
This table can hold a maximum of 100 entries. As soon as this limit has been reached, the oldest entry in the table will be deleted to make room for the next new entry.
If you have subscribed to FRITZ!Box Push Service (see the "Advanced Settings / System / Push Service" menu), the e-mail will also contain the table with the information about voice transmission.
Structure of the Tables: The table cells with a gray background always show your own Internet telephone number. The lines after this number display the details about all Internet calls conducted using the Internet telephone number shown in the gray cell. The details on a telephone call are displayed in two lines.
Description of the Columns:
Both tables always display the detailed information about an Internet call in two lines.
Date | First column, first line: This cell displays the date and time at which the Internet call was started. |
Duration | First column, second line: The duration of the Internet call is shown here in hours and minutes. |
Numbers | Second column, first line: This field shows the telephone number that was called. The display of this number (with or without area code, country code) depends on the Internet provider. For incoming calls the number of the remote party can be displayed only if transmission of the number is switched on at the remote site. |
remote site | Second column, second line: This field shows the IP address of the remote site. |
Voice Transmission
The following columns contain the details about voice transmission. The first line (green arrow) shows the values for the send direction, and the second (blue arrow) the values for the receiving direction.
Coding | The audio codecs used for voice compression are displayed here. The audio codecs are negotiated between FRITZ!Box and the remote site. |
Packets | The number of IP packets sent or received successfully is displayed here. |
Lost | This cell displays the percentage of IP packets that were lost during transmission. If no losses occurred, a minus sign ("-") is displayed here. |
Delay | This value indicates by how many milliseconds the transmission of the voice packets are delayed. The delay is determined using RTCP (Real Time Control Protocol). If the remote site does not support RTCP this column is empty. |
Jitter | Ideally the FRITZ!Box receives IP packets at a fixed time rhythm. The value in this column shows the average deviation from this rhythm in milliseconds. Such deviation can be the result of fluctuations in the IP transmission over the Internet. Jitter is always calculated by the recipient. What is displayed here for the send direction is the receive jitter determined by the remote site. This value will be averaged at regular intervals in the table that displays the Internet calls currently being conducted. In the table with the Internet calls that have already been concluded, this column contains the last value averaged during the telephone call. |
Burst | Clustered interference to signal transmissions. |
Other | The entry in this column is three lines long.
